Use
Rheumacin is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis and pain associated with menstrual periods. Rheumacin works blocking enzymes that create prostaglandin. The decreased levels of prostaglandin are know to reduce pain and swelling in the affected area.
Dosage
The correct dosage of Rheumacin will depend on the condition the medication is being taken for and how the patient responds to it. In most cases 25mg to 200mg per day in an even distribution of dosages will be used to treat most conditions. However, you are advised to consult your doctor for more precise instructions when taking Rheumacin.
Side effects
It is considered rare or uncommon for side effects to occur when taking Rheumacin. If you experience side effects they are most likely to include:
- headache
- dizziness
- nervousness
- upset stomach
- stomach pain or cramps
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- constipation
Other more serious side effects may include:
- bloody vomit
- bloody diarrhea or black, tarry stools
- ringing in the ears
- swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
- skin rash
- itching
If you experience any of these side effects, you should seek urgent medical attention.
Precautions
If your have a history of gastric ulcers and other stomach complaints your should talk to your doctor about alternative treatments.
The same also applies to people with a history of liver or kidney disease.
Combining Rheumacin with other medications can cause serious or unwanted side effects. In particular, you should talk to your doctor if you are currently taking anti-coagulant medicines such as warfarin, aspirin, atenolol and carteolol. You should tell you doctor if you are currently taking other arthritis or diabetes medicines.
Women should contact their doctor about the suitability of using Rheumacin during pregnancy and breast feeding.
