Use
Flixonase is used for the treatment of air born allergens that cause hayfever like symptoms such as blocked nasal passages, running nose, sneezing, itching or watery eyes. Flixonase contains a corticosteroid that works in the same way as the body's natural defenses against inflammation. The medication therefore relieves the symptoms of blocked or running nasal passages.
Dosage and Application
Flixonase is taken by blocking one nasal passage then spraying the medication once in the unblocked nostril while inhaling through the open unblocked nostril. Your doctor may approve of a second dose if your condition is acute. Do not take more than 4 sprays of Flixonase in each nostril in a 24 hour period.
Side effects
For most people using Flixonase Nasal Spray, the side effects are often mild or non-existent. However, some of the side effects that may occur from taking Flixonase Nasal Spray include:
- Headaches
- Sneezing
- An unpleasant taste or smell
- Minor nose bleeds
- Dryness and irritation of the nose and throat
Other people may have more serious reactions to taking Flixonase Nasal Spray. If you experience swelling of the face or tongue, a rash or difficulty breathing you should seek urgent medical attention.
Precautions
Flixonase Nasal Spray should only be applied through the nasal passages. Avoid any contact with the eyes with Flixonase Nasal Spray.
If you have had recent nose surgery or sores in the nose, Flixonase Nasal Spray may delay the proper healing on these conditions.
