Generic Dutasteride and Hair Loss

Generic Dutasteride has be shown to be a better hair loss treatment than finasteride (Propecia or Proscar). Generic Dutasteride resulted in a DHT supression of approximately 95% in clinical trials. DHT is the primary cause of androgenetic alopecia.

Recommended Dosage of Generic Dutasteride

Dosages of 0.5mg, 2.5mg and 5.0mg were tested. The effectiveness of the higher dosages was only marginally greater than a doage of 0.5mg. One Generic Dutasteride capsule (0.5mg) should be taken daily.

Important Information about Generic Dutasteride

Generic Dutasteride is indicated for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. It has not yet been approved by the FDA for the treatment of hair loss.

Generic Dutasteride Side Effects

The most common side effects when taking Generic Dutasteride are impotence (trouble getting or keeping an erection), a decrease in libido (sex drive), breast enlargement and tenderness (gynecomastia) and a decrease in the amount of semen released during sex. These side effects usually decrease or disappear with continued usage, or stopping the medication altogether. The side effects reported were significantly less than those resulting from treatment with finasteride.
