Proscar as a Hair Loss Treatment

Proscar is used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia in men. While Finasteride 5mg is not prescribed for hair loss, Proscar tablets can be easily divided into quarters and be taken as 1mg finasteride, the dose found in Propecia. Splitting Proscar tablets provides a more cost-effective hair loss treatment than Propecia.

Proscar Dosage

Proscar is indicated for BPH (enlarged prostate). Proscar should be divided into quarters to be used to trat hair loss.

Side Effects of Proscar

Proscar may result is some side effects. Side effects that may occur while taking Proscar include a change in sexual function or breast enlargement. If these side effects continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. If you experience skin rash, swelling of lips or other symptoms of toxicity, contact your doctor immediately.

Proscar Precautions

Before taking Proscar, inform your doctor of any medical conditions, allergies, or pregnancy. Tell your doctor all medicines you are currently taking. Use of Proscar is NOT recommended if you are female. Procard use is contraindicated in women when they are or may potentially be pregnant. Women should not handle crushed or broken Proscar tablets when they are pregnant or may potentially be pregnant because of the possibility of absorption of finasteride and the subsequent potential risk to a male fetus. Proscar tablets are coated and will prevent contact with the active ingredient during normal handling, provided that the tablets have not been broken or crushed.
