A complete single use HIV test kit. The kit contains everything required to perform an HIV test. Reliable results are produced in 15 minutes. Kit Contents: Instuctions, Alcohol wipe, Automatic Safety Lancett, Buffer Solution and HIV Test Cassette.
Directions
This test is suitable for preliminary screening only.
This test device is approximately 99% accurate. Any positive or inconclusive test should be confirmed by a western blot or other qualified EIA.
The test kit includes:
1 Test casette in foil wrapper
1 Lancet
1 Alcohol Wipe
1 Buffer container
Precautions
Haemophiliacs and those on anti-coagulant therapy should consult their physician before performing this test.
Steps to follow:
Step 1
Prepare for blood sample
Wash your hands with soap and warm water. It is important to keep your hands warm to get a blood sample.
Use your middle or ring finger
Swab the tip of your finger with an alcohol swab and let it dry.
Step 2
Drawing a blood sample
Push the lancet cap into the body of Unistik 2 until it clicks.
Twist off the lancet cap until you feel it separate from the device. Don't pull, just twist. Dispose of the cap in a suitable container. Choose a site on the finger.
Press the Unistik 2 platform firmly against the chosen site and press the release button. If required massage the sample site, taking care not to squeeze to hard at the site. The single use needle retracts immediately after sampling. Leavign the device safe for immediate disposal. Use a suitable sharps container.
Step 3
Adding blood to the well
Gently squeeze the site of the lancet insertion to obtain a hanging droplet of blood. Place the droplet into the sample well of the tester. Make sure the well has sufficient blood to complete the test. Too little blood may produce an inconclusive result or an invalid test.
Step 4
Adding buffer solution to the well
Carefully open the buffer solution container and gently place 1 or 2 drops of the solution from the buffer container directly into the sample well in the test device.
Step 5
Reading results within 15 minutes
Negative Result
The test is completed once a bar appears next to the "C" on the control bar. The space next to the "T' label remains blank. A negative result means that either the patient has not been affected with HIV; OR there are not enough HIV antibodies in the body to be detected.
Positive Result
Distinct bars appear on both the C and T labels. All positive results should be confirmed using a western blot test administered by a physician of EIA.
