Use
Avacard is generic Norvasc and contains the same active ingredient Amlodipine Besylate. Avacard is used to treat high blood pressure. Medications containing Amlodipine work by relaxing the blood vessels and increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart.
Dosage
In most cases 1 to 2 tablets daily will be the prescribed dosage. However, you are advised to take Avacard as directed by your doctor.
Side effects
Taking Avacard can result is unwanted side effects although the occurrence is considered uncommon. Some of the side effects you may experience are:
- headache
- upset stomach
- dizziness or lightheadedness
- excessive tiredness
- flushing (feeling of warmth)
- heartburn
- raised heartbeat
- muscle cramping
- nosebleed
- decreased sexual desire or performance

Precautions
Taking Avacard with other medications, including homeopathic remedies can cause serious side effects or reduce the effectiveness of Avacard. In particular you should take any other medication that may increase your blood pressure such as appetite suppressants, asthma, cold, cough and hay fever medicines.
