Use Nexpro is used to treat ulcers, gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD or heartburn), erosive esophagitis, duodenal ulcers and other conditions involving excessive stomach acid production. It works by inhibiting the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Dosage Common dosage instructions say take 1 20-40mg tablet 1 hour before eating, however you are strenuously advised to follow the prescribed dosage from your doctor. Side effects If you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives), stop taking Nexpro and seek emergency medical attention. Other side effects may include headaches, diarrhoea, a dry mouth, flatulence and abdominal pain sometimes severe. Precautions Before taking Nexpro, tell your doctor if you have ever had any type of liver disease. You may not be able to take esomeprazole, or you may require a special dosage and monitoring. Also tell your doctor if you are taking digoxin, ketoconazole or iron salts as Nexpro can lower the absorption of these medications and therefore decrease their effectiveness. |
