Use
Aldara Topical Cream is commonly used to treat Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), otherwise known as genital warts. However U.S. regulators have recently approved this cream for treatment of precancerous skin lesions, known as actinic keratosis. It may soon approve its use for non-melanomic skin cancers, but you should check with your doctor before using Aldara for this purpose.
Aldara works by increasing the body's immune system to fight viral infections. While there are no cures for HPV or skin cancer, the cream is effective at treating the warts or lesions without scarring the skin. Alternative treatments such freezing or burning the warts or lesions may leave scars after treatment.
Dosage and Application
Important note: Wash your hand before and after application of Aldara Cream. Apply a thin layer of Aldara Cream to affected area 3 time per week. A sachet of cream should last the 3 applications. Rub the cream into the skin until no more cream is visible. Once the cream is applied do not cover the skin. The cream should be left on the skin for 6 to 10 hours before gently washing the area with a mild soap and water.
The recommended application is 3 times per week. Suggested schedules for application are Monday, Wednesday and Friday or Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday or any other equivalent schedule.
