Usage
Zithromax is a macrolide antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections in the body such as bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, skin infections, ear infections, sexually transmitted infections and other purposes as prescribed by your doctor or medical professional.
Azithromycin is sometimes prescribe to treat conditions resulting from a person infected with HIV.
Dosage
Please consult your doctor or medical professional for advise on the correct dosage for your needs. You individual circumstances will determine the required amount of this medication. You are advised to strictly follow your doctor's instruction. Do not stop taking this medication without consulting your doctor or medical professional beforehand.
Zithromax tablets can be taken with or without food.
During the course of the treatment, avoid using antacids that contain aluminum or magnesium such as Rolaids, Mylanta, Milk of Magnesia etc... These antacids can decrease the effectiveness of Zithromax.
Side effects
Some of the side effects that indicate the you have an allergic reaction to the medication are:
- difficulty breathing
- swollen lips, tongue or face
- hives
- nausea
- severe abdominal pain or discomfort
- severe fatigue
- unusual bleeding or bruising
If you experience any of these side effects, you are advised to discontinue use of Zithromax and seen medical attention urgently.
Other less serious side effects that can sometimes be experienced are:
- nausea
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- unusual dizziness
- fatigue
- headache
- vaginal yeast infection
- rashes
- increased sensitivity to sunlight

Precautions
Please notify your doctor if you are taking other medications, that includes homeopathic medications, before undertaking a course of treatment with Zithromax. The combination of Zithromax and other medications such as carbamazepine, warfarin, digoxin, triazolam or cyclcosporine can cause serious side effects.
It is not clearly known if Azithromycin affects the fetus in pregnant women or if it excreted in the milk of breast feeding mothers. If your are concerned, you are strongly advised to consult your doctor or medical professional.
