Use
This medication is an oral contraceptive for women that can also be used for the control of acne and idiopathic hirsutism (unwanted hair growth). It is the generic form of the popular Diane-35 ED contraceptive pill that many women around take daily.
Dosage
One tablet is taken daily. The tablet can be taken with a meal to reduce the feeling of nausea.
For the first cycle of using Ginette, take the first tablet on the first day of menstrual bleeding. Continue to take each tablet through out the 28 day cycle. Start taking a new pack a day after completing the previous pack.
If you miss a dose on one day do not double up the dose the next day. You should take extra prophylactic contraceptive precautions for the next 14 days.
Side effects
The following side effects have been known to occur:
- breast tenderness, enlargement and / or secretion
- changes in menstrual flow
- change in libido
- depressive moods
- abdominal cramping or bloating
- dizziness
- nausea
- vomiting
- headaches
- chloasma
- changes in skin pigmentation
- vaginal candidiasis
- gastro-intestinal irritation
- weight gain
- alteration in hair growth
- skin reactions
- anemia
Precautions
Do not take Ginette if you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant. Taking a hormonal contraceptive during pregnancy can cause deformities in babies.
Women are strongly advised to consult their doctor or gynecologist and have a full physical examination before using the Ginette contraceptive pill. Only your doctor or gynecologist will be able to make a proper recommendation as to whether Ginette is suitable for your needs.
Women who have a history of hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol should have regular physical examinations with their doctor while taking Ginette.
Some studies have suggested that there is an increased risk of cervical cancer through taking oral contraceptives, although it is also believed other factors may be involved.
